Analysis of polls: Current blog earnings and future earnings objective

I’ve been running a couple of polls on this blog for some time, and now there is some decent data, I’ve decided to share it with you.

What are you currently earning from your blog on a monthly basis?

 

Nothing 32%
$10 to $100 19%
$101 to $500 13%
$501 to $1000 16%
$1001 to $2000 16%
$2001 to $5000 3%
Over $5000 1%

 

So, let’s have a think about that data. I think the key points are:

  • 68% of Mike’s Life readers are earning something from their blogs
  • 20% are earning more than $1000 a month
  • More than half (51%) are earning less than $100 a month

 

What are your financial objectives for your blog in the coming year?

 

None 16%
Cover hosting and blogging costs only 16%
Earn a supplementary income 15%
Earn a full time income 28%
Already earning a full time income 15%
Other 9%

 

Let’s have a look at the key points here:

  • 67% would like to earn at least a supplementary income from blogging
  • 28%, who aren’t currently doing so, would like to earn a full time income from blogging
  • 32% are happy to blog for either a few dollars towards their hosting, or nothing at all

There are some very obvious conclusions we can draw from the combined data:

  • Most of you are already earning a little from your blogs, and most of you want to earn more!
  • A surprisingly high percentage of you are hoping to achieve a full time income from your blogs over the next year
