A Blogger's Day - Part One

The alarm cut through his consciousness at 5AM. He slipped painfully out of bed and looked across at the sleeping form of his wife, remembering the harsh words they’d exchanged at 2AM when he disturbed her getting into bed. As the shower washed away the weariness he replayed the conversation in his mind:

“It’s 2 O’Clock in the morning! It’s Saturday! You’ve been on the bloody PC all day. I’ve done the shopping, sorted the kids out, fed the cat!”

“I know, I know, I’m sorry. I’m getting close now, the post I’ve been writing is the best I’ve ever done. I had to get it right, and I had to post it.”

“Yes but our lives are on hold while you get this project off the ground. I know you love it, but we’re all suffering, and I’m fed up with it.”

“I know, and I know I’m letting everyone down at the moment, but hang in there, I’ll be turning the corner soon and when I give up my job I’ll be working normal hours on the blog".”

“You might be doing it on your own!”

And with that she had turned away from him and created an invisible barrier in their double bed.

Showered, he dressed as quietly as he could and slipped out of the bedroom to head for the home office, with his excitement mounting. He knew this was the post that was going viral – it really was that good! He powered up the PC and then put the kettle on for a coffee. Spooning coffee and sugar into his cup, he remembered the detail of the post, lips moving gently as he recited the title and the first few “hook” lines. It was his best ever work – that first paragraph had taken hours to get right, but he knew it would keep people reading through to the end.

The PC had finished it’s painfully slow start up. He smiled ruefully, thinking about the Mac he would buy as soon as he started earning some money from the blog. He was good at visualization – he could see the sleek Apple sitting on his desk, and of course the desk and chair would be changed as well. All legitimate business expenses!

He opened the browser and clicked onto his site……………
