Day Six - Making a little money now

Yesterday, being Sunday was also a day free from being chased up by people. It’s funny how owing money affects you – my wife has quite a nice BMW, which isn’t worth a lot of money, but it does look quite flashy. We don’t want to appear flashy in our current situation, so the answer has been to let the car get really dirty. Subliminally it doesn’t appear so expensive!
We did have to take some hard decisions though, and decided we had to let another two people go from our workforce. We simply cannot guarantee their wages and feel they would be better with the help of the dole people – at least they know they will get their money. I’m sure they will both be fine about it, as they have known it may come to this, but it really sucks making people redundant just before Christmas. They’re both good people and we will take them straight back on if we can turn things around.
We spent a lot of the day getting our house straight and getting the Christmas decorations up. The kids need to feel some kind of normality even though we don’t. I hate living this illusion, but suspect it won’t be long now before things come to a head and I won’t have to.
As always, we slept very badly – Sunday nights seem to be full of the worst kind of nightmares. To think, a year ago I’d go to sleep longing for the morning and looking forward to going to work, and now I dread it.
I spent a lot of time researching things I want to do to this site last night, and have decided I need to submit a sitemap to Google, I need to get something called Digg on here, and I need to do some serious link exchanging. So those have all gone into my little notebook and I’ll tick them off as I do them.
I also started the series of articles about creating the blog in some detail – this side of things will be a template for people in the future, and hopefully will save them some time and effort.
Traffic has risen well to 25 visitors and 177 page views. If the stats keep rising at that rate I will be very, very happy. As a result I managed to earn 57 Cents from the site!! Considering my best day was 4 Cents, this is very good news indeed – a fourteen fold increase. The dreamer in me wants to believe it could continue at that rate, let’s see in two weeks time we could have more than 100 dollars a day coming in!
