Eight more things I hate about Twitter

This blog was less than a month old when I wrote the original Eight things I hate about Twitter, and it went on to become one of my most read posts.

Twitter-2

More than a year later, I thought it was time to revisit Twitter and see if my views have moved on. Interestingly, they have!

Here are eight more:

1/ Logos as avatars. I find it really disconcerting talking to an abstract. Show me your face please!

2/ Any kind of auto DM. And I mean any. Turn them off now! In fact turn off any kind of automation.

3/ Sending me a link to your post as an @mikecj. No! It’s like you’re hawking for business or a comment. By all means tweet a link to the general stream, but don’t put my name on it.

4/ Multiple follow Friday tweets. Forget it. Nobody is going to follow the 12 people you managed to cram into it. Just pick one person who’s been valuable or funny and tell us why.

5/ Incessant “quote” tweeting.

6/ Text language. FFS i no it’s only 140 chrctrs but dusnt mean u need to wrt in shrthnd.

7/ Any tweet that ends with the words: “What are you grateful for today?”

8/ That guy who broadcasts messages telling people how they should tweet. Then does the opposite.
