Time is the worst kind of bank account:
You can only withdraw from it, you can never pay more in
You never know what your balance is
Once you’ve spent it, you can never earn it back
Here are eight quick tips on how to save a little time. Put them together and they will save you a lot!
Get up an hour earlier
It’s so simple! If you get up an hour earlier than normal, you’ll gain 15 days more a year!
Go to bed an hour later
If you’re more effective at night than in the mornings then switch it!
Write a To Do list every day
This will save you time. As you complete one task, you can swiftly move to the next without pausing to think what you need to do.
Plan your week
How often do you find you have to visit the same area twice in a week to do different jobs? If you plan the week ahead, using a calendar, that won’t happen – you can batch the jobs together by area.
Cook enough for two meals
If you’re preparing a labor intensive meal, cook twice the quantity and freeze the rest. Next time you plan to eat the same thing, you can simply thaw and microwave it, which will save you all the preparation time.
Ignore personal calls in work time
Let them go to voicemail – they know you’re working! Do you get those “Just a quick thing………” calls from friends which are anything but?
Set up your voicemail to go to email
I just timed it! It takes 33 seconds for me to actually get to a message on my voicemail! Most airtime providers make you run the gauntlet to collect your messages with stuff like “Welcome to the voicemail service from Vodafone, to listen……” Blah, blah, blah! 10 messages a day? That’s 32 hours a year you spend listening to that voice! You can scan an email in a couple of seconds.
Turn your computer on, then go and make the coffee!
My PC takes 45 seconds to boot up, then another 10 to go through it’s start up routine. Some mornings I sit there, with my coffee waiting for it. What a waste! By hitting the button, making the coffee, then waiting for the start up while I put the coffee stuff away, I’m going to save another 5 hours a year!
Come on then team, let’s have loads more quick tips in the comments please!
