Eight Reasons to be Cheerful in a Recession

Politicians have to work!
Isn’t it great seeing them under pressure in an interview, thin film of sweat on upper lip? When economies are struggling, people in government earn their corn, and I like that!

There are Bargains to be had!
Retail businesses sharpen their margins when times are hard, which means we can find some terrific bargains if we’re prepared to hunt around.

The Cream Rises to the top!
Shops and companies which offer either exceptional service or a great product prosper and thrive in a recession, which in turn means that……

The Crap sinks to the bottom!
Rip-off artists and con men are the first to be culled when there isn’t any spare money in the budget.

Interest Rates come down!
If, like me, your borrowings are higher than your savings, you’ll be paying less interest than you were this time last year.

Indirect Taxation comes down
Governments try to stimulate the economy by reducing indirect taxes, which again means we get more value for our money.

Your Bank Manager talks to you!
I don’t know about you, but my bank manager is suddenly everywhere. He knows he needs to keep his key customers going in times like this, so he’s actually being quite accommodating!

You gain in strength and confidence!
When you manage to survive and feed your family when the news is full of doom and gloom, you can be sure that you’ll prosper when it’s all over.

Or to quote Kipling “If you can keep you head when all around you are losing theirs……”

Is the recession still

Is the recession still ongoing?

Here in our country the dollar rate is already nearing normal. I mean normal, the dollar rate before the recession...

Anyways, I like the "Politicians have to work!" reason. At least they can prove to the people they're doing their jobs.

Here in Europe the recession

Here in Europe the recession is biting quite hard. UK seems to be worst hit, with pound /Euro at parity for the first time ever, and interest rates dropping like a lead balloon.
