Eight ways to get more page views

Visitors to your blog are great, but the real secret to success is getting lots of page views, particularly if you want to benefit from on site advertising. Here are eight tips to get new arrivals to your site to explore other parts of it, instead of bouncing in and straight back out. This is how to make your site more “sticky”

Internal links within the page

Link to other posts in your blog, using the relevant keywords within the current post.

You can either use a plug in to do this automatically, or simply find a few relevant posts to add at the bottom of the current one.

Have a mini-bio in the sidebar

When people arrive at your post via a search, it helps to have a short bio about you and the site in the sidebar, with a link to your full about page.

Have a good blog design

Keep the blog clear and uncluttered – many readers will simply move on if they’re struggling to work out what to do next. Also have good branding on the site, that is attractive to look at.

Encourage people to do something within your posts

Want a comment? Ask them to leave one! Want them to read your about page? Tell them to do so. Want them to subscribe to your RSS feed? Tell them how!

Answer people’s comments

You can start a great conversation going by answering comments. Assuming they’ve subscribed to the comment string, or they’re checking back, you’re getting more page views.

Offer them some of your great content

Have a menu item or link to one or some of your best posts – people like to go to popular places. You can do this manually or through a “Popular posts” type plug in.

Build some continuity into your posts

The best way to do this is through a series of posts on one topic – you can also break a big post into parts one and two.
