Getting fit as a Blogger

It can become the most sedentary of lifestyles – sitting in front of your computer for hours on end. If you’re anything like me, you’ll know that you really need to exercise and get some fresh air from time to time, but there’s often “just one more job to do.”

That’s why I was pleased when my friend Nathan Hangen came up with an E Book called How I lost 10 LBS and STILL drank beer. The beer reference was appealing, but for me the most powerful thing about the book is that Nathan is speaking from experience. He’s gone from being an overweight guy to a marathon runner and triathlete, so I figured he’d know what he was talking about. So I bought the book!

Nathan Book

And I’m delighted! There’s some good background stuff, then it talks in some detail about stretching to avoid injuries, and finally moves into the core of the program, which is to get you out running. I started off at the most basic level, which involved running, then walking for minute at a time. Unlike other programs I’ve tried to follow in the past, this one kept things simple and was within my capabilities. I’ve already progressed to stage two, I’ve found I’m feeling stronger and I’ve lost a kilo!

There’s some good stuff about nutrition in the book as well – that’s where the beer comes in! And the whole thing is packaged with another book about preparing for your first race and a free race calendar. I’ve signed up to do a triathlon next year, so I was really interested in the first race book.

The package is priced at $17, which I think is good value. I also think there’s a hidden benefit to paying something for information like this. Subliminally, even if you’ve only paid $17, it’s enough to persuade you to get off your rear and do it!

Have a look at Nathan’s page on How I lost 10 LBS and STILL drank beer – there’s a good video on there which will tell you more.

Disclosure: I do earn a small commission if you buy Nathan’s product through the links above. As always, I only recommend stuff that I have bought, used and that I am happy with.

mmm, Seems like your talking

mmm, Seems like your talking to me. I am one of those guys who spend over 12 hours at my PC. Since I stopped playing beach volley ball, my health has suffered.

There is always one more hob to do, or you're always too busy.

I think Nathan Hangen is on

I think Nathan Hangen is on his way to becoming a lifestyle design guru. Good on him. I also find I'm stuck behind a computer too much. Definitely takes its toll.

Since the terriers became aged and infirmed - well, they say dogs take after their owners!!!! - I haven't been walking six to 10 miles a day and I am unfit. Not sure that I want to become a marathon runner though!

Gotta agree with Mike (and Gordie) on this, Nathan is doing a good job on building up his rep and kudos for doing e-book with "beer" in the name :)

Somewhat unrelated to this, but I recently read a story about a beer-drinking hippie who does marathons well below 3 hour mark and doesn't even train that much -- not that I'd recommended anyone trying the same but it was an interesting story. With that, here's hoping everything goes well on preparing for the triathlon Mike!

I've managed to work several

Stefan's picture

I've managed to work several hours a day sitting still thanks to my football. I used to train two times a week and play matches two times a week until roughly one year ago when ruined my knee. Because of this I had no real training and I've gained about 6 kg in one year. On Friday it's finally time for my operation and hopefully I will get going again.

This book isn't for me at the moment since I will be jumping on crutches for about 2-3 weeks but I would love to hear some of your thoughts during your process.

Good luck with the operation Stefan!

I'm very wary with things

Tim's picture

I'm very wary with things like this, it looks as though its another clever marketing scam. Very "6-minute-abs". I'd be very interested to hear how quickly you see results!

You're right to be wary my

You're right to be wary my anonymous friend, but note that Nathan doesn't make any claims for the program. He simply states that he lost 10 LBS following it!

For me, the bottom line is simple - it's motivating me to start running, with enough knowledge to do so sensibly, and safely and a program that pushes me without pain or risk of injury. If that's what you're looking for then you should buy it. If it isn't, you shouldn't!
