If you missed my post about using Google Chrome as your web browser, you can see it here. The good news is that Chrome has already been updated, and I’ve been running the new Beta version for a week now.
Wow! Unbelievably, it’s even faster than version one! You really have to use it to appreciate the blistering speed with which it opens web pages. I regularly check how my pages look in Microsoft’s IE7 and 8, and after using Chrome for so long, each time I do it, I think my PC has crashed, it’s so slow in comparison!
Apart from the increase in speed, the other key change I’ve noticed is that auto complete is now working, where it wasn’t on version one. Other new features include a zoom facility, which I haven’t used, and the ability to drag a tab out and place two websites side by side on your screen, which is incredibly useful.
The original features of version one remain, and for me the best of those is that Chrome opens a new process for each tab. This means that if one tab crashes, you only lose that one, not everything you have open.
Download the beta version of Chrome now and give it a try!
