You are right that giving to others, not for the sake of getting something but for the sake of just giving, works miracles in more ways than one.
Not only does it feel good, but it is a good way to pay things back or forward, depending on how you look at it.

Why does it matter if you use affiliate links or not?
Just curious as to why linking to the book using affiliate links would even really matter?
First - I assume you mask the affiliate links with something like Ninja Affiliate anyway so people would not even know it was an affiliate link.
Second - The book author is not going to make more if a book sells on Amazon from an affiliate link or a non-affiliate link.
Just curious as to why the big deal about linking to him directly and not to Amazon using an affiliate link. Thinking out loud now... It might actually have converted to a sale better with a direct link to Amazon affiliate link or not - and actually sold more books for him.
Anyway.. Keep up the good work. You always have some good info in here.

You're right Brent in that it would make no difference to the author, and under normal circumstances I would use affiliate links (but not cloaked). But in this case I just wanted to do something without any personal gain. Hard to explain, but it just felt right.
