When I first started Mike’s Life Posts of the Week, I really hoped and expected that very few sites would consistently feature here, and that I’d be constantly introducing you to new and exciting sites to read. And that has happened to some extent. But I have been surprised at how often the same sites appear on this page, and maybe I shouldn’t have been. It seems that some sites are just great at churning out superb, thought provoking stuff, consistently. This week there are several that fall into that category. I’m not going to worry about it. Let’s just celebrate and enjoy the skill of these writers:
The Society of Mediocrity and Your Role as a Blogger
by David Risley on davidrisley
If you only have time to read one post from this list, make it this one. David rants about traditional media, negativity and our role as bloggers and wraps up with a call to action to all bloggers. Inspiring stuff!
by Elliot on flopidle
Elliot’s partner has promised him he can have a new iMac. As long as he earns the money to pay for it from his site. He’s charting his daily progress with PPC. It’s not going well!
5 Ways to take control of your personal brand today
by Dan Schawbel on Mashable
Mashable’s output is prodigious. I always read their posts, but it’s rare for their stuff to stop me in my tracks, slow down and digest. It happened twice this week. The first is this one about looking after your brand. I ended up with several actions as a result of reading it.
Publishing: 82 brilliant links for writers, authors and publishers
by Joanna Penn on creativepenn
82! Phew! My lists have 8 items in them! This is one of those that you’ll add to favorites and keep coming back to.
Journalism 2.0: Don’t throw out the baby
by Bernard Lunn on readwriteweb
Excellent post, adding to the ongoing debate about blogging versus journalism and where the lines blurs, then talks sensibly about charging for content.
Should your company have a social media policy?
by Sharlyn Lauby on Mashable
I’m a firm believer that mainstream businesses need to into to social media right now. So is Sharlyn.
