Reaching a tipping point in your online business

One of the most exciting days of my life was when we did the monthly accounts for my wife's travel blog, and realized we had earned a full time salary from it.

Taking the plunge

It had been a long and hard road, but we had started something from nothing, with the smallest of investments, and we had genuinely created a full time income from it. Every word written, every aspect of the design and every cent earned had come from the two of us, with a lot of help from the fantastic community of readers.

It's a corny phrase, but for me, it was life changing. We had proved to ourselves that ordinary people like us can start something with almost nothing, and turn it into not only a source of pleasure and pride, but a real business, with a real value, and something that puts bread on our table each day.

It took us almost 11 months to get there, and don't even start me on the workload! The amount of time it took us was largely due to the many mistakes we made along the way. If there was a wrong route, we took it:

  • We were convinced that placing banners on the site would get us lots of affiliate sales - wrong!
  • We believed that Adsense would start to make serious money - wrong!
  • We thought we didn't need to build a subscriber base to sell things to people - wrong!
  • I thought we could manage without help as we'd started other successful businesses - wrong!

I could go on and on, but if you've read the case study I wrote, you'll know all about the mistakes we made.

People often talk about "Tipping points" online, and for me that day was my tipping point. It made me realise where my future lay, and part of that is helping other people through those early, difficult days as a blogger trying to create a business. Mike's Life is the home for that work, and in turn it lead to Beyond Blogging and all the incredible and exciting stuff that has involved over the last few months.

The latest step in the journey is The Beyond Blogging Project, which starts tomorrow. Nathan and I, together with 8 other friends, are going to work with just 50 people for the next six months. This is the ultimate coaching and mentorship program - the mentor team will basically be working with the people on the project on their business, on their blog, to achieve their objectives and with the help of their 49 colleagues,

Some amazing alliances will be made, some new superstars created and it's going to be fun and rewarding for the people involved. Our reputation relies on making the 50 people successful. How powerful a motivator do you think that is? There's nowhere to hide for us - you probably know many of the people who are on board already. If we don't succeed with them, you'll hear about it.

We're all ready to start tomorrow. There are a few places left (yes, really - there's no false scarcity here.) This could be the tipping point for you. If you really want to move your business forward, and to be helped to do that by a group of people with some exceptional skills and experience (and me) then complete the application form now, after reading the PDF we've produced.

And if you want to know more, or ask us some questions, come and join us live for a free webinar at 2PM EST.
