Seven Things to check before you hit send on that broadcast email

I've done it. I know of several well known internet marketers who have done it too.

Many of us have sent a broadcast email with an incorrect link, the wrong information, or some other schoolboy error which necessitates yet another email to correct the problem.

And that almost always results in unsubscribes.

Here's a simple checklist you should go through before you press the "queue" button:

1/ Hit the test button and ask the system to send a copy of the email to one of your own accounts

2/ If images are used or needed, make sure there is a reminder at the top to "Turn images on."

3/ Proof read your content for spelling and grammar.

4/ Check any dates or times mentioned in the email, then check them again.

5/ Click through every single link on the email to check it goes where it should.

6/ If you want people to do something as a result of the email, then make sure you finish with the call to action. Even if you mentioned it somewhere else - always finish with what you want them to do.

7/ Now send the email to someone else and get them to go through the 6 steps above!

I use Aweber for the email marketing system on all my sites.
