We need to talk about Linkedin

Linkedin was the first social network I ever joined. I can't even remember who invited me, but I was still a corporate superstar at the time and it seemed like a cool idea.

I pretty much ignored it for years. In fact if I'm honest, I've never given it the attention it deserved.

And despite that, it's brought me a fair bit of business, and allowed me to bitch about former colleagues who are now all "Director of..." or "Head of...." various divisions of the large companies I worked for.

But recently I've started to pay some attention to Linkedin. And it's impressed me - people there are serious. They're business people, and they invest their time there wisely. And although my love affair with Twitter will continue, I'm beginning to see how Linkedin can be incorporated into my daily routine.

I've been helped in this journey by someone I've been working with in The Beyond Blogging Project. Phil is one of our students, and he has spent the last few months in the project focused on producing a course to help people discover, or even rediscover, how to use the network effectively.
