I’m Mike. I was born in Hong Kong and educated in Britain. I live in The Canary Islands just off the coast of Africa. I’m married with two kids, and I’m in my forties. I speak two languages, I’m a decent writer and I’m a reasonably intelligent sort of guy.

I spent the first 18 years of my life working in big businesses and had a pretty good “corporate type” lifestyle. Then I started my own real estate business here in The Canaries, and we've enjoyed many years of building it up, whilst restoring our old farmhouse. I still control the brand and run all the marketing for that business, but I wanted a change of lifestyle back in 2008, and above all, I wanted to write.

I became a full time, professional blogger in 2008, and I love the lifestyle! I work every day with my wife, who runs Lanzarote Information, our travel blog, and she's my partner in our company Camel Media Group.

I'm proud to be co-author of the smash hit annual book Beyond Blogging, which is fast becoming the book for bloggers everywhere. I'm CEO of Beyond Blogging Corporation, and the Beyond Blogging brand is going from strength to strength as the place for people who are interested in creating solid business platforms using social media. As well as the annual "Who's who in blogging book" we also run the acclaimed Beyond Blogging Project, and produce a monthly DVD of great information about business platforming.

I love the water and spend most of my time on, in or under the ocean - I scuba dive every week, I love sailing and I surf whenever the surf's up. I feel priveleged to live in a place where I can indulge my passions as often as I want to.
